Hello world! An Invitation…
This is my first post. I needed a way to work through life’s frustrations and this seems a good way to do it.
You see, I wanted a simpler life than I had and, though I got it, it came at a price. So you understand me better, here’s my background:
My name is Caelan and I was born in a place called Dendreshire, which means “place of trees”. True to the name, it’s mostly a forest region. I was raised in the palace there, being the daughter of Elven Royalty. Some of you may think being waited on hand and foot in a castle is the way to go but, believe me, all the responsibility that comes with it is hard work! Personally, I’d prefer a mott-and-bailey style home with a field to tend to…less hassle to deal with.
My mother and father had wanted me to marry the prince of a neighboring shire after receiving my education, as tradition dictates. I didn’t love him; didn’t even like him very much, to be honest, so I refused. My defiance of custom infuriated them, especially my mother! She had plans of having me kidnapped and “de-programmed” into complying with tradition. Kidnapped! What mother does that?!?
It didn’t take me long to figure out that my only way of living my own life on my own terms was to leave the shire, for good. So I did, sneaking out of my wing late at night to meet my one and only true friend in this world, Lucian, who provided me with the paperwork necessary to living in what we call “The World of Humans”. The same name in my native tongue would be unpronouncable to those who don’t speak it.
He introduced me to a human called Ambrosia, who is elf-friendly and offered to let me stay with her, at least until I figured things out (such as how this world works compared to mine). So far, it’s going alright.
This all came about in the last month and now I’m here, typing this computer journal, or blog, as I guess they’re called. I plan to make records of my life here in the world of humans because it goes without saying that, being an Elf with magickal powers, I cannot expose myself to humans without risking my personal safety and that of my fellow elves. However, it would be too difficult to hide myself completely lest I become lost to myself and defeat my entire purpose of leaving in the first place. Hiding out in the open, as it were, could be my only saving grace.
So, I invite you to join me in my journey of self discovery in a strange land with strange beings and leave it to you to believe (or disbelieve) that I am who I say I am. Either way you turn, it should be an entertaining ride to say the least.

How entertaining you are! What a great first post!
